Auburn received some good news concerning its offensive line Thursday night.

Akron offensive tackle Brandon Council announced that he would be transferring to Auburn. This is great news for the Tigers offense after 4 offensive line starters were lost following the 2019 season.

“It’s time to announce that I will be officially continuing my football and academic career at Auburn University,” he wrote on Twitter.

Council started 24 consecutive games for the Akron Zips and has played multiple positions in the trenches. He chose Auburn over his other finalist Missouri. Council’s bio on Akron’s website lists the lineman at 6-foot-4 and 325 pounds. He’s originally from Matthews, North Carolina.

Center Nick Brahms is Auburn’s only returning starter along the offensive line in 2020; so, bringing in someone with Council’s experience is an important addition for Gus Malzahn’s offense.

Exiting high school, Council was rated a 2-star prospect, according to 247Sports Composite Rankings.
