Hugh Freeze’s Auburn coaching staff appears to be coming together. Not long after it was reported that Ron Roberts is expected to be the team’s new defensive coordinator, a name for offensive coordinator has also emerged.

Justin Hokanson of Auburn Live reports that former Tulsa head coach Philip Montgomery will be Auburn’s next offensive coordinator.

In November, Montgomery was fired after 8 seasons as Tulsa’s head coach. Tulsa posted a 43-53 in 8 seasons under Montgomery.

Before becoming the head coach at Tulsa, Montgomery was at Baylor from 2008-through-2014. From 2008-11, Montgomery was co-offensive coordinator. He became the Bears’ sole offensive coordinator in 2012. In 2013, Montgomery was a finalist for the Broyles Award, which goes to the top assistant coach in college football.

Montgomery was also a co-coordinator at Houston in 2007.
