Auburn is open for a transfer quarterback, and the Tigers are reportedly interested in hosting Casey Thompson, according to multiple reports including Jeffrey Lee, after the former Nebraska QB entered the transfer portal earlier this week.

The transfer market is nothing new for Thompson, who as a graduate transfer will have immediate eligibility at a new school for the 2023 transfer. He previously used his 1-time waiver to transfer from Texas to Nebraska.

Thompson last season started 10-of-12 games for Nebraska. He completed 63% of his passes (173-of-274) for 2,407 yards and 17 touchdowns, along with 5 rushing TDs. Thompson became the 5th QB in program history with 3 games of 300 yards passing in a season.

Thompson ended his Nebraska career on a high note. He was 20-of-30 passing for 278 yards and 3 TDs in a win over rival Iowa.

Hugh Freeze about 3 weeks ago updated his thoughts on the Auburn quarterback situation. Even after a rainy spring game, Freeze shared that he “feels better” about Robby Ashford and the rest of the QB room compared to 15 practices ago. Freeze later admitted that there is still a ways to go before anyone solidifies their spot as “the guy.”
