After losing in the SEC Championship Game and missing out on the College Football Playoff a season ago, Auburn is looking to build off its success from last year and take the next step in 2018.

According to the ESPN Football Power Index, the Tigers have a good chance for another strong season. They have a better than 75 percent chance to win eight of their 12 games, per FPI. If they win all the games that FPI gives them the better chance to win, they’ll go 9-3.

One of Auburn’s toughest games is its first of the season against Washington. FPI gives the Tigers a 49.5 percent chance to win that game, so their prediction could go either way.

The other two most challenging games for Auburn come against Georgia (Nov. 3) and Alabama (Nov. 24), and both matchups are on the road. The Tigers went 1-1 against the Bulldogs last season, losing to them in the SEC Championship Game, and beat the Crimson Tide in the Iron Bowl last year.

FPI gives Auburn a 33.3 percent chance to beat Georgia and a 33.2 percent chance to beat Alabama. If the Tigers can manage to beat their SEC foes, it could be an incredible season for coach Gus Malzahn’s squad.

If Auburn wins its season opener and the eight following games that it is projected to win, the Tigers would be undefeated entering their matchup against Georgia.
