Cal running back Jadyn Ott isn’t intimidated by the upcoming matchup against the Auburn Tigers in the slightest.

That much he made clear when he met with the media this week.

“There’s a lot of focus on the name Auburn,” he told reporters. “But what I see on film is not really in comparison to what their name is. I just want to get that into my guys’ heads that a name doesn’t mean anything.”

It’s true that Auburn hasn’t been one of the most dominant teams in the Southeastern Conference over recent seasons, but that’s still quite a bold statement to make given the difference in level of competition between the two teams’ conferences.

Cal comes into this one looking to keep the momentum going after the Golden Bears opened the season with a bang, trouncing North Texas, 58-21 on the road.

The Tigers are also undefeated after recording an equally sizable win over UMass to start off their season, going up 59-14 in Jordan-Hare Stadium on Saturday.

It will be interesting to see just how well the Hugh Freeze era at Auburn continues to hold up when the Tigers and the Golden Bears kick things off at 9:30 p.m. CT on Cal’s turf.
