What’s next for Cam Newton? Perhaps on Friday we’ll be getting that answer.

Newton posted a video on Instagram on Wednesday in which he stated he has “a lot of things” he needs to get off his chest. But he also clarifies that it won’t be a retirement speech and that he still has a lot of football left in him.

Although Newton may have been promoting his next “Funky Friday” video, this one should be more interesting than usual, especially because of the unknown of what he may have to say.

The former Auburn quarterback has been in the news plenty over the past month, as he ended up getting released by the New England Patriots, who named rookie Mac Jones their starting quarterback for 2021. Newton, who was the starter in 2020, didn’t get a second opportunity to lead the Pats’ offense.

In Newton’s lone season with New England, he passed for 2,657 yards, 8 touchdowns and 10 interceptions while also rushing for 592 yards and 12 touchdowns. It wasn’t quite the level of production that the former NFL MVP showed earlier in his career.

But Newton is still 32, so perhaps he could get back to that level with the right opportunity.

Whatever is next for Newton, maybe we’ll be getting some kind of indication on Friday. Or it’s also possible that this won’t reveal much at all and Newton is just hyping this up for social media. We’ll find out soon enough.
