Auburn lost to Clemson each of the last two seasons, but on Thursday, Auburn beat its fellow Tigers on the recruiting trail.

Lawrenceville, GA native and 3-star DE Colby Wooden committed to Auburn through a Twitter announcement Thursday afternoon.

“My recruitment process has been fun but very tough,” he wrote in his Twitter post. “Thank you to every University Coach that took a chance on me, and welcomed my family and I to their campus.

“So, after long conversations with family, and prayer, my recruiting process is OVER. I’m 100% committed to Auburn University!!”

Wooden received offers from more than a dozen Power 5 schools, including several powerhouses in the SEC and ACC such as Clemson and Georgia.

Standing at 6-foot-4 and 230 pounds, 247Sports ranks Wooden the 31st-best strong-side defensive end in the 2019 recruiting class. Wooden is also inside the Top 500 best players in the class and just missed the Top 50 in Georgia according to the 247Sports composite rankings.

With this latest addition, Auburn moves up to No. 15 on the 247Sports 2019 team composite rankings. There’s still four months until early signing day, but Auburn already has 14 commitments, eight of which are 4-star recruits or higher, in the 2019 class.
