Former Auburn receiver D’haquille “Duke” Williams has received a tryout with the Los Angeles Rams, according to a report from Auburn beat writer Brandon Marcello.

His tryout is reportedly set to take place on Friday, though neither Williams nor his representation have confirmed that information yet.

Williams was considered one of the top receivers in the SEC entering the 2015 season, but turned into one of the league’s biggest busts after catching just 12 passes for 147 yards and a touchdown during a shortened senior season.

He was kicked off the team in October after reportedly punching teammate Xavier Dampeer.

The controversial way that he left the program and an underwhelming pre-draft showing left the wideout undrafted and in search of an opportunity to begin a professional career.

The Rams are likely taking the chance that the game-breaker we all watched during the 2014 season will reemerge at some point.

Williams recently told SEC Country that he’s a changed man from the experience of the last year.

“I’m a changed man,” Williams told SEC Country last week. “Counseling helped me out and at the end of the day I’ve learned from my mistakes. Just give me that chance to show them, the rest of the team, the general manager, the owner that I’m worth drafting. I’m a diamond in the rough.

Fellow former Auburn WR Ricardo Louis was a fourth-round draft pick of the Cleveland Browns.
