In the SEC West: LSU is looking to repeat, Alabama is trying to get back on top and Texas A&M is being hyped as a contender in Year 3 under Jimbo Fisher. ESPN college football analyst Mark Sanchez, however, is looking at another team in the division: Auburn. For Sanchez, it’s all about Bo Nix’s second season.

“I’m looking at Auburn, and I want to see Bo Nix’s development this offseason,” Sanchez recently said on ESPN’s “College Football Live,” according to 247Sports. “He’s got to get better in situational awareness. That’s red zone. That’s third down. I want to see his completion percentage skyrocket. Now he has the help of Chad Morris, who was Deshaun Watson’s quarterback coach. I think that’s really going to help him.”

As a true freshman, Nix posted a 57.6 completion percentage, which ranked No. 88 nationally. He was notably better at home (62 percent) than away from Jordan-Hare Stadium (51.3 percent). Nix also improved after a rough October, which included games at Florida (40.7 completion percentage) and LSU (42.9 completion percentage). In November, against Ole Miss, Georgia, Samford and Alabama, Nix posted a completion percentage of 61.2.

We’ll see if a more mature Nix with the coaching of Morris is able to build on the strong finish to his freshman season.
