Gus Malzahn is prepping his Auburn team for the final stretch of the 2019 season with big games against rivals Georgia and Alabama sandwiched around a visit from Samford to close out November, yet there is one question that the head coach will continually be asked for the next month or so: are you interested in the Arkansas job?

That was the case again on Tuesday afternoon during his weekly press conference when Malzahn, now in his seventh year in charge of the Tigers, was asked about the Razorbacks’ vacant job.

“I love Auburn, like I’ve said in the past,” Malzahn responded. “I love my players, we have a bright future here and nothing has changed.”

The same scenario that he is facing happened just two seasons ago when Bret Bielema was fired from Arkansas. After Auburn took down Georgia and Alabama when they were both ranked No. 1 in three weeks to win the SEC West, the coach saw his contract get extended with a mighty raise and ended up passing on the job in Fayetteville.

Now, with Chad Morris gone after less than two seasons with the Razorbacks, Malzahn’s name is being thrown around again, which makes sense. He became a legendary high school coach in the Natural State, spent time as an assistant at Arkansas and was the head coach of Arkansas State in 2012 before accepting his current position at Auburn.

This won’t be the last time Malzahn will get asked. Let’s see if his tone changes as the season nears its conclusion.
