Hugh Freeze will bring in former Eastern Michigan defensive tackles coach Vontrell King-Williams to Auburn as a defensive analyst, per FootballScoop.

King-Williams will also work as an assistant defensive line coach for the Tigers in 2023. He will have 2 important roles on the defensive coaching staff for next season. With his experience working with defensive tackles, King-Williams will be able to focus on Auburn’s defensive tackles and the entire defensive line.

Freeze was hired at the end of the regular season and he is finalizing his entire coaching staff for next season. He will bring in a coach with experience at multiple schools. Previously, Freeze and King-Williams worked together for in the 2020 and 2021 seasons at Liberty when Freeze was the head coach.

At Liberty, King-Williams worked directly with the defensive linemen as a graduate assistant. He left Liberty for Eastern Michigan in 2022. The 2022 season was his second stint at Eastern Michigan as he was also a defensive graduate assistant in 2018 and 2019.

Auburn will be looking to have success with Freeze and having a strong coaching staff will be important for the Tigers. King-Williams will have an important role in the development of Auburn’s defensive linemen.

Auburn is coming off a 5-7 season in 2022.
