Landen King has decided to change his mind from redshirting at Auburn, to entering the transfer portal. King, who was a tight end at Auburn before he switched positions and moved to wide receiver for the 2022 season, announced the move on social media on Tuesday night.

Earlier this month, King announced plans to redshirt and end his sophomore season after he appeared in 3 games this season, and made 1 catch for 24 yards.

He thanked Gus Malzahn for believing in a kid from Texas during the pandemic, and for the opportunity because, “I love this place and it really hurts me inside that I have to make this decision.”

He thanked the Auburn family and his teammates, and explained that he would enter the transfer portal on Dec. 5 with 3 years of eligibility remaining.

“I will make sure wherever I go, I’ll show them what it really means to be an Auburn man,” he wrote.

In 2021, at the tight end position, King made 5 catches for 59 yards in 3 games. He had a pair of catches against Georgia and Arkansas before his first career touchdown against Alabama.

A former 3-star recruit, he was considered the No. 29 tight end in the class of 2021 by 247Sports.
