Auburn QB Jarrett Stidham is one of the most intriguing quarterback prospects in the 2019 NFL Draft.
His talent is undeniable, but he struggled at various points during the 2018 season as the Auburn offense regressed mightily. As the NFL Combine approaches this weekend, Stidham will be a guy many scouts and coaches have their eyes on.
On Monday, NFL.com draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah held a conference call and talked about Stidham, saying he wants to see the former Tiger show more consistency with his throws (via AL.com):
“With Stidham, to me, just being more consistent (is the biggest thing),” NFL Network and NFL Draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah said on a conference call Monday. “He can make some special throws on the move and drive the ball; it’s just making the layups, being more consistent with the simple things — which to me, at the Combine, it’s not the greatest place to display that.
“You’re throwing to a bunch of guys you don’t know (at the Combine). That’s something he’ll have a chance at his pro day throwing with his guys. He needs to have one of those workouts where everything’s just smooth and easy, and don’t make the easy things hard, because he can flash the ability to make the hard things easy.”
Jeremiah projects Stidham as a Day 2 draftee, going in either Round 2 or Round 3 of April’s draft. Of course, that could change for better or for worse based on his Combine and pro day performances.
In 2018, Stidham threw for 2,794 yards, 18 touchdowns and five interceptions.
