Former Auburn standout Nick Marshall had a big game Friday night for the Saskatchewan Roughriders, and that included a 27-yard interception returned for a touchdown.

The score helped the Roughriders knock off the British Columbia Lions, 33-29, as Marshall got back on the field for the first time since Nov. 17, 2019. It gave the Roughriders a 28-0 lead as they had to hold on as the Lions made a huge comeback. It was a long time coming for Marshall.

“Now that it’s getting closer, it’s starting to feel like game week,” Marshall said on Wednesday, via AL.com. “… It feels good to come back out there for this game. We got training camp out of the way. All the hard stuff is really out of the way now. We can just get the rinks and dinks out of this defense and especially with the offense also and then just try to get this win come here Friday.”

Marshall is starting his third season in the CFL, and the former Auburn standout made the CFL Players Association All-Star Team in 2018.

Resigned re-signed with the Riders in January 2020 after he initially signed with them in 2018. After Auburn, his NFL career started with the New York Jets in October 2016 after signing as an undrafted free agent with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2015.

In 2019, Marshall started in 17 games at defensive back and picked up 39 defensive tackles, one tackle for loss and a fumble recovery and he added five interceptions for 121 return yards and one touchdown.
