TJ Finley has made his decision, he’s headed to Auburn to compete with Bo Nix for the starting quarterback job on The Plains.
The sophomore quarterback (he has four seasons of eligibility remaining after the NCAA gave all players the option of taking a free season of eligibility in 2020) started five games last season for the Tigers, which is more starts than any other signal-caller on LSU’s roster has for their entire college career.
In his five appearances for the Tigers during his true freshman season in 2020, Finley completed 80 of 140 passes for 941 yards with five touchdowns and five interceptions.
He had been competing for the starting quarterback role in LSU’s offense with Myles Brennan, Max Johnson and Garrett Nussimeir this spring in Baton Rouge but made the decision to leave Ed Orgeron’s program following the conclusion of spring practice in order to find a clearer path to a starting role on the field.
