Asa Martin left Auburn under murky circumstances, but his transfer recruitment already appears to have a bit of clarity.

The freshman running back will spend this weekend visiting Miami, which reportedly contacted him shortly after he made known his intention to transfer.

Martin announced his transfer last Saturday, and his family claimed the Tigers coaching staff unknowingly burned his redshirt despite intending to maintain a year of eligibility. After appearing in all four of Auburn’s September games — the maximum number a player can participate in and still retain a redshirt — he was on the field for only two snaps against Mississippi State on Oct. 6.

The true freshman had a much larger role in the Tigers’ second-to-last game of the regular season against Liberty, and he finished the year with 13 carries for 57 yards and another 36 yards on two receptions.

Originally a 4-star recruit out of Decatur, Alabama, Martin rushed for 2,228 yards and 33 touchdowns as a high school senior. Now it looks like he might be taking his talents from The Plains to Miami.
