Auburn just picked up a big commitment out of North Carolina as Mallard Creek High School standout Trenton Simpson has pledged his commitment to Gus Malzahn’s program over finalists Georgia, Tennessee, Miami and North Carolina.

Simpson announced his decision during a commitment ceremony at his high school on Friday.

The 6-foot-2, 220-pound Simpson ranks as a four-star prospect, the No. 2 overall prospect from North Carolina and the No. 4 outside linebacker in the country according to 247Sports Composite Rankings. Simpson is now the highest-rated member of Auburn’s 2020 recruiting class.
