With the regular season over, the transfer portal is heating up. According to multiple reports, Auburn lost a trio of players to the portal Tuesday.

Shaun Shivers, a senior running back with 1 year of eligibility left due to COVID, has entered the portal alongside 2nd-year wideout Elijah Canion and 4th-year defensive end Caleb Johnson.

A former 4-star prospect from the Class of 2018, Shivers ran for 1,020 yards and 8 touchdowns during his 4 seasons at Auburn. He was expected to have a more sizeable role in the offense this season, but after scoring twice on just 3 touches in the opener, he missed Auburn’s next 2 games and was passed over in the rotation by a freshman. Shivers had just 14 carries on the year. He was the 10th-ranked all-purpose back in his class and the No. 344 overall prospect, per the 247Sports Composite.

Canion was a 3-star addition from the 2020 class. Rated as the 85th wideout in his class and the 525th overall prospect, per the 247 Composite, Canion had an uphill path to playing time. In his 2 seasons with the team, he made just 6 appearances and registered 7 receptions for 126 yards. He had just 4 catches this season.

Johnson, a 6-foot-3, 276-pound Georgia native, appeared in just 3 contests this year. All 3 of his games came at the start of SEC play, but he fell out of the rotation and then was not a part of the team for its final five regular-season games. When asked about his status, coach Bryan Harsin, per AL.com, was noncommittal. A former 3-star and the 579th overall player in the Class of 2018, per the 247 Composite, Johnson had 20 appearances in four years with the Tigers, but had just 18 tackles.
