Sometimes, not everything that needs to be said can be said over a network broadcast. So that’s why we are bringing you Saturday Down South’s Uncensored Commentary of the Auburn vs. Oregon game:

“Welcome to the first real week of football of the college football season, a time full of joy, hope and optimism — except for most of the teams in the SEC East. Tonight we have Auburn vs. Oregon, which will be a fun matchup of high powered offenses and powerful defensive lines.

“But no matter what happens tonight, both fan bases should be able to take comfort in that age-old college football saying, “At least we’re not Tennessee.”

1st quarter 15:00

“Oregon and Justin Herbert get the ball first, and before the first snap, they call a timeout to regroup. That’s OK, I’d do that too if I saw what Auburn’s defensive line looked like for the first time.

“Eventually, the Ducks’ offense gets going and sets up a 4th-and-goal and we get an early look at the matchup everyone wants to see — aside from Charles Barkley vs. the Oregon Duck. It’s the Oregon O-line vs Auburn D-line, and the Ducks win. Touchdown.

“Oregon 7-0.”

11:15

“Bo Nix now comes on to the field while being introduced on television by his father. They were hoping to have Gus Malzahn’s father introduce the rest of the offense, but Nick Saban wasn’t available.

“Auburn goes 3-and-out and the ball goes back to the Ducks.

“Oregon strings together a couple of nice plays and all of sudden Oregon has a 1st-and-goal from inside the 5, with all the momentum on their side. Unfortunately, they drop the momentum like a perfectly thrown Justin Herbert pass and Oregon misses a chip shot field goal to give the ball back to Auburn.”

3:14

“Bo Nix finally starts to show glimpses of why Auburn fans were so excited to see him play. The Tigers go right down the field but have to settle for a field goal. But as evidenced by how Auburn has treated Gus Malzahn over the years, they’re OK with settling.

“Oregon 7-3.”

0:55

“The Ducks’ offense wastes no time going down the field, and on a wide scramble, Justin Herbert connects with an Oregon receiver in the end zone who bodies an Auburn corner like Randy Moss and then steps over him like Allen Iverson. If you’re an Auburn fan, you’re probably thinking … yikes. With maybe a few more expletives behind it.

“The Ducks lead 14-3.”

2nd quarter

12:33

“Auburn has to do something here to turn things around. For a while, things look good. Nix hits some wide open receivers on well designed plays. The problem, as always, with Auburn’s offense is that eventually your QB is gonna have to make a throw to a not so wide open receiver on a not so well designed play. Bo Nix tries it and it’s intercepted. His dad’s disappointment is palpable.”

6:30

“Things are getting very weird.

“Oregon returns a punt 80 yards right down the sidelines that Auburn seemed to not really care about trying to defend at all. But just when things look really bleak for the Tigers, Justin Herbert dribbles the ball straight into the hands of Auburn’s Big Kat Bryant, who returns it 80 yards the other way, just much slower than Oregon did.

“Auburn gets a 1st-and-goal on the 3 and says “you know what, that’s close enough.” They do nothing for 3 plays and kick a field goal.

“Oregon leads 14-6.”

1:13

“Auburn’s defense is starting to figure out this complex Oregon offense. Unfortunately, Bo Nix and the offense is not cooperating. Nix lobs up a lazy pass that’s easily intercepted. This time though, the cameras don’t show his dad’s reaction. Probably because he’s busy trying to figure out who the backup is.

“Meanwhile, Oregon’s punter attempts to make up for his offense’s lack of productivity by trying to pull off a Stone Cold Stunner on the Auburn returner standing out of bounds. If only past Oregon defenses were as physical, they might have more than 0 championships.

“The extra yards don’t seem to help Auburn much at all though, as the Tigers moonwalk backward for 3 straight plays and miss a field goal to end the half.”

3rd quarter

15:00

“OK, let’s see how Auburn prepared during the half and what kind of fine tuning their offense can make. And … they went 3-and-out before that sentence was even finished.

“The Ducks respond by easily driving right down the field and scoring on a draw with their 3rd-string tailback, and just like the rest of the SEC in Week 1, Auburn is in deep trouble.

“Oregon leads 21-6.”

4:20

“Auburn’s offense finally finds something that works — snapping the ball while the defense isn’t paying attention. It leads to Bo Nix’s first touchdown pass and all of the sudden, Auburn is starting to regain the momentum and good things are happening. What is this feeling?”

“Auburn pulls within 21-13.”

4th quarter

15:00

“The Auburn defense has made Justin Herbert go from looking like Marcus Mariota in college to Marcus Mariota in the NFL. The Oregon offense can’t do anything and has to punt right back to Auburn.

“The Tigers’ offense picks right back up where it left off and now they’re pushing the Ducks all over the field. On the 1-yard line, Gus finally puts in Joey Gatewood who does what Auburn quarterbacks do best, not throwing. He dives into the end zone and the Tigers are within one.

“Oregon 21-20.”

6:55

“All the pressure is on Justin Herbert and the Ducks now, Auburn fans haven’t been this excited since they thought Gus was going to get fired 2 quarters ago. Oregon gets past midfield and needs just one more first down to put this game away.

“But it was at this point that they remembered they were a Pac-12 team playing an SEC team. The Ducks use their last two timeouts trying to get Herbert back on the field after an injury, but they could have used 10 timeouts and it wouldn’t have stopped the Auburn d-line from swallowing up the play in the backfield. Auburn ball.”

2:22

“After trading punts, Bo Nix and the Tigers get the ball down 1 with one last drive to win the game. A few quick plays later, Auburn faces a 4th-and-3, hope is draining away, but Bo Nix extends and takes on 3 defenders and gets the first down by a few inches. His dad is happy again.

“Now Oregon is desperately trying to stop Auburn from kicking a game-winning field goal as time expires. Sound familiar? Not to Bo Nix. He drops back with 12 seconds left and finds Seth Williams in the end zone to take the lead. Forget everything we said in the first half, he’s a hero.”

“The extra point is good. Auburn leads 27-21!”

0:09

“Because it’s Auburn, they can never make anything easy. They give up a big return on a squib and now Oregon has one last chance to win the game. Fortunately for the Tigers, Justin Herbert decides now is the time to show NFL scouts how strong his arm is, and his pass ends closer to the crowd than his receivers in the end zone. Auburn wins.

“Nobody puts Gus in a corner.”
