Tar’varish Dawson is a dynamic athlete who has the potential to be a solid contributor in college. But the Auburn commit has hit the brakes on officially signing with the Tigers.

“I will not be signing Wednesday. I will push my signing day back in February to make sure I make the right decision,” he tweeted.

Dawson tweeted the news on the eve of the start of the Early Signing Period, and two days after Auburn fired coach Gus Malzahn. Dawson committed to Auburn in May, and the 3-star athlete prospect out of Lehigh Acres, Florida, (Lehigh Senior) holds 24 offers, including Kentucky, Ole Miss, South Carolina and Arkansas. He’s the No. 25 ranked athlete in the country in the 2021 class, according to the 247Sports Composite, and is listed at 5-foot-10, 175 pounds.

In high school, he played defensive back, receiver, quarterback and running back. He reportedly ran a 10.58 in the 100-meter dash, according to the 247Sports scouting report, and was recruited by some schools to play cornerback at the next level and others to catch passes as a wide receiver.
