Carl Lawson made a name for himself in college as a terrifying pass-rusher off the edge.

Sunday, he collected the first of what could be many sacks in the NFL. It came in the third quarter of Cincinnati’s game at Green Bay. Lawson, a rookie who was selected by the Bengals in the fourth round of this year’s NFL draft, pushed through Packers offensive tackle Kyle Murphy to drop Aaron Rodgers for an 8-yard loss.

Lawson sacked Rodgers again later in the second quarter, this time taking down the all-world quarterback for a 5-yard loss.

A defensive end during his time at Auburn, Lawson now mainly plays standing up at outside linebacker. He does, however, still line up at end in certain packages for the Bengals.

A 5-star signee in Auburn’s 2013 class, Lawson ended his college career with 67 total tackles (24 for loss) and 14 sacks. Last season, he registered 34 tackles (13.5 for loss) and nine sacks.
