Charley Moran spent more than 20 years as a college football coach from 1909-1933 after playing Major League Baseball for the St. Louis Cardinals in the early 1900’s. Moran took his first college head coaching job at Texas A&M, where he coached for six seasons from 1909-1914. His teams posted five winning seasons during that time, only losing more than one game in a season once. His 1909 team finished the season with a perfect 6-0 record, and he was an impressive 28-3 in his first four seasons as coach of the Aggies. Moran left A&M after the 1914 season with a combined 37-8-4 record in six seasons in College Station. He also coached baseball while at A&M. He passed away in 1949 at the age of 71.
