Jack Leavenworth coached the University of Alabama football team for one season in 1905, leading the Crimson Tide to a 6-4 record. It was his only season as a coach of any sport at the college level. He passed away in 1961 at the age of 80.
A former newspaper reporter who has roamed the southeastern United States for years covering football and eating way too many barbecue ribs, if there is such a thing.
