L. B. Harvey coached the Mississippi A&M football team (a.k.a. Mississippi State) for one season in 1901, finishing the year with a 2-2-1 record. The two victories were the first two in program history after winless seasons in 1895 and 1896 (the football team did not compete from 1897-1900 and resumed play in 1901). A&M shut out Ole Miss 17-0 that season, but also lost 45-0 to Alabama.
A former newspaper reporter who has roamed the southeastern United States for years covering football and eating way too many barbecue ribs, if there is such a thing.
