Tennessee swept Ole Miss over the weekend, and that elevated the Vols to the new No. 1 position in the latest Baseball America poll.

The Vols jumped up from No. 6, while Arkansas moved up 2 spots to No. 4, and Ole Miss slid from No. 1 to No. 9 following the 3-game sweep against the Vols. Vanderbilt, Florida and LSU rounded out the poll from the SEC. Georgia fell out of the poll. This is the first time Tennessee is ranked No. 1.

Tennessee is the fourth team in 4 weeks to rank No. 1, following Ole Miss, Notre Dame and Texas. At 23-1, the Volunteers have the most wins in the country and their 15-game winning streak is the longest active streak.

Some of the Vols’ stars over the weekend were Jordan Beck who on Sunday led the Vols with 3 hits, and scored a run. Seth Stephenson also had 3 hits and scored a run on the afternoon. Drew Gilbert capped his impressive weekend with a triple, a run scored and 2 RBIs.

Some notable highlights for the Vols:

The Vols recorded their first ever series sweep over a top-ranked team and their fourth, fifth and sixth wins over No. 1 ranked opponents (any poll) since Tony Vitello took over as head coach in 2018. UT is 6-6 in games against top-ranked teams in that span.

Redmond Walsh secured his third save of the season, as he struck out five batters in 1.1 innings. He moved into sole possession of second on Tennessee’s career saves list with 19 and is just four shy of tying Todd Helton’s program record of 23.

Here are the SEC teams in the poll:
