College baseball season is just around the corner! With 6 more weeks until the new season gets underway, Perfect Game shared its preseason top 25 on Monday.
The SEC has long been the sport’s top conference, with Vanderbilt (2019), Mississippi State (2021), Ole Miss (2022), LSU (2023) and Tennessee (2024) winning the last 5 College World Series. The 2025 season will be the SEC’s first with 16 teams, and the 2 newcomers happen to enter the season in the top 25.
Including Texas and Oklahoma, the SEC has 10 teams in Perfect Game’s preseason top 25. The ACC is next with 6, followed by 4 from the Big 12.
It’s 2024 CWS runner-up Texas A&M, not defending national champion Tennessee, that leads the Perfect Game poll. LSU is next in line at No. 2, followed by No. 4 Georgia, No. 5 Tennessee, No. 7 Texas, No. 11 Florida, No. 13 Arkansas, No. 15 Vanderbilt, No. 20 Oklahoma and No. 22 Auburn.
Perfect Game is one of the most prominent nationally recognized polls, along with D1Baseball, Baseball America, USA TODAY, Collegiate Baseball and the NCBWA. Opening Day for the 2025 college baseball season is set for Valentine’s Day. Conference play in the SEC begins March 14 and wraps up May 15-17 before the SEC Tournament in Hoover, Alabama (May 20-25).
