The 2020-2021 college basketball season is rapidly approaching. College basketball fans are clamoring for the season to start after last year’s season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic. While the 2020-2021 college basketball season might look a bit differently this season with new protocols and an adjusted schedule, fans will have their favorite teams back on the court.

We will regularly update this college basketball schedule page and provide updates related to COVID-19 postponements and cancelations.

2020-2021 College basketball season and important dates

November 25, 2020 – Season Start

College basketball begins on November 25, 2020 with the first college hoops games of the season. While the season start got pushed back from its original date of November 10, 2020 to the current date of November 25, 2020, we can’t argue with it! Games will be happening on November, 25 in Brooklyn as part of the NIT Season Tip-Off.

November 26, 2020 – Wooden Tournament

The next day, on November 26, we’ll get more college hoops including some major programs such as Georgetown, UCLA and Kansas, when the 2020 Wooden Legacy tournament gets underway in Anaheim, California.

November 30, 2020 – Maui Invitational

College basketball fans are familiar with the Maui Invitational which is regularly a sign that college basketball is underway each year. While it’s still called the Maui Invitational, the tournament will be held in Asheville, North Carolina this year due to COVID-19 related circumstances. The tournament will begin on November 30, 2020 and last for a few days. Teams slated to compete include North Carolina, Indiana, Alabama, Texas, UNLV and more.

December 29, 2020 – Some conferences start

The SEC is slated to begin conference play on December 29-30. The conference schedule will be an 18-game schedule. Similarly, the Mountain West will begin an 18-game schedule on the same day.

March 14, 2021 – NCAA Tournament Bracket Set

March Madness season starts on March 14, 2021 with the usual Selection Sunday festivities. The bracket will be set on the 14th with March Madness play starting shortly thereafter.

March 16, 2021 – March Madness Begins

The first games will kick off on March 16, 2021. The 2021 NCAA tournament will officially be underway.

April 3, 2021 – The Final Four

The Final Four is slated to begin on April 3, 2021 in Indianapolis.

April 5, 2021 – The National Championship

Similarly, the National Championship Game will take place on Monday, April 5, 2021 in Indianapolis.
