Alex Grinch has been fired by USC after yet another loss by the Trojans to Washington.

It’s been a long time coming, let’s face it. Grinch’s defense at USC has been among the worst in the conference, severely holding back a Trojans team that is bursting with talent on the offensive end.

Fans have been calling for Grinch’s firing since last season and plenty more joined the chorus following last night’s loss.

Following the game, HC Lincoln Riley was asked about the future on the defensive side of the ball. Here’s what he had to say:

“I’m not into the big-picture questions right now,” Riley said. “My job is to go try to beat Oregon next week and to coach what we have here. I know as the head coach that all falls under my responsibility ultimately, and I don’t shy away from that and I never have, but there are times and places for those discussions and those will happen at the appropriate times.”

Shaun Nua and Brian Odom will serve as co-DCs moving forward for USC.

ON Sunday following Grinch’s firing, plenty of fans for USC and CFB alike took to social media to rejoice in the firing of one of the worst-performing coordinators in the Pac-12.
