Appalachian State’s fans gave the ESPN College GameDay bus the royal welcome on Thursday, as the pregame show is coming to the Boone, North Carolina, campus for its weekly Saturday morning extravaganza.

The Mountaineers earned the visit from ESPN this weekend with another giant-killing performance last Saturday at Texas A&M, where they took down the then-No. 6 Aggies 17-14. It was the latest in a long line of upset victories for the program since it took down Michigan in Ann Arbor at the start of the 2007 season.

Meanwhile, Appalachian State is offering its students and fans a chance to get into the College GameDay “pit” on Saturday, as long as they’re willing to camp out for the opportunity.

The university said 500 people will have the chance to be seen on camera during the show, which will take place before the Mountaineers try to make it two wins in a row against Troy at Kidd Brewer Stadium. The school is instructing those enthusiastic campers to claim their spots the day before at the Sanford Mall on campus.
