You can add another familiar name to Deion Sanders’ Jackson State coaching staff. Mike Zimmer, former head coach of the Minnesota Vikings, will join the Tigers as an analyst.

Sanders teased the addition on Twitter, saying “RUMOR HAS IT – FORMER NFL HEAD COACH MIKE ZIMMER MIGHT BE JOING JACKSON STATE”:

This isn’t the first time Sanders and Zimmer have worked together, although the roles are now somewhat reversed. Zimmer coached Sanders the entire time Sanders was with the Dallas Cowboys, and the two have maintained a friendship over the years.

Zimmer was most recently the head coach of the Minnesota Vikings, where he spent 8 years. Prior to the Vikings, Zimmer was a defensive assistant for the Falcons, Bengals, and most notably, the Cowboys.

The former NFL coach wasn’t shy about sharing his thoughts on what his new program can accomplish this season. “I think the sky is the limit,” Zimmer said. “If some people would donate to him and his football program, there would be no stopping him. He would be competing with the Georgias and Alabamas and everybody around the country.”
