UConn has found its new football coach, and it was a guy not many expected to be in the mix.

That would be former UCLA coach Jim Mora, who hasn’t coached since the Bruins fired him before the end of the 2017 season.

UConn made the hiring official on Thursday morning, sending out a tweet welcoming Mora to the program:

Naturally, this decision to hire a guy who hasn’t been in the coaching ranks in nearly 5 years drew some raised eyebrows across the country.
