Jim Mora sends warning to programs ‘tampering’ with UConn players

Jim Mora and the UConn Huskies capped off a great turnaround in 2024 with a 27-14 win against North Carolina in the Fenway Bowl to finish the season at 9-4. The 9 wins in 2024 was many as they had in the last 2 years combined.

With the success the team had this year, that could cause other schools to be interested in the Huskies’s players. Tampering is not allowed in the NCAA, and Mora sent a scathing post out on social media saying he knows what teams are reaching out to his players.

“A simple note to the schools and coaches that have blatantly broken NCAA football rules by tampering with our players in the last 24 hours,” Mora wrote. “We do know who you are, we will pursue all avenues to hold you accountable. We are excited that we’ve built a program where coaches have to cheat to beat us and we will protect that program. Think hard before you tamper with our players.”

Mora just wrapped up his 3rd season at UConn, and has the team going in the right direction. However, Jim Mora is having to take a proactive approach to roster retention in this era when tampering seems to be so common across the sport.

The winter transfer portal window has closed, so any additional movement from UConn’s roster (with the exception of graduate transfers) will have to wait until the spring.
