Kirk Herbstreit says USC should look into hiring current FBS coach with Playoff resume
While USC continues its job search, one person who has already taken his name off the list is Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin, who made it perfectly clear early Tuesday that he has no interest in being a college coach, although there were several rumors circulating that he might be interested in the job.
So, who do the Trojans need to turn to for their next hire? ESPN college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit says they should take a look at Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly to fill the position.
Herbstreit said this on Sirius XM College Sports:
“I think Brian Kelly would be an interesting hire…If I were USC, I might knock on his door.”
A lot of rumors are circulating around the USC job with several high profile names being mentioned…but did the Trojans just play one of their candidates?@KirkHerbstreit explains to @GuyHaberman & @RyanDLeaf why SC should consider Notre Dame HC Brian Kelly#FightOn pic.twitter.com/86KdV5dpsa

Kelly took Notre Dame to the national championship game a few years ago against Alabama and took the Irish to their first College Football Playoff game, again against Alabama last season, losing both games.
He could be an interesting choice for a team looking to return to the top of the college football world.
