Nick Saban enjoyed himself as College GameDay strolled into Berkeley, CA for the first time.

If you don’t know, the Cal Golden Bears have a heated rivalry with the Stanford Cardinal. The in-state rivals have no love lost, and the GameDay crew was well aware of that fact.

ESPN’s “Stanford Steve” Coughlin was in attendance as always, and the Stanford graduate never misses an opportunity to poke at Cal.

“I also wonder how many of these people are here because they didn’t get into Stanford,” Coughlin said of the large crowd in attendance.

The crowd exploded in boos for that jab, but Saban was there to defend them.

“If it was so great at Stanford, why did you have a girlfriend here at Cal?” Saban asked, to a loud applause.

The rest of the GameDay panel got a good laugh out of Saban’s jab.

“Good question, coach!” exclaimed Pat McAfee.

The GameDay crew had a massive turnout for their first Berkeley show. Now, the Cal fans are just hoping their team shows up as well for the matchup against No. 8 Miami.

These new ACC rivals have not played each other since the 2008 Emerald Bowl, which Cal won 24-17.

The Bears and Canes will kick off from California Memorial Stadium at 10:30 p.m. ET.
