Shedeur Sanders has a lot of his dad in him. The Colorado quarterback is flashy on the field, like his father and Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders. And he’s got a lot of moxie off it, too, as shown by what he did this week leading up to the Alamo Bowl in San Antonio.

The younger Sanders wanted to go out with a bang as a collegiate quarterback. And he also wanted to tell football fans of all kinds exactly where he might end up after next spring’s NFL Draft. Sanders told followers to watch out for his Alamo Bowl cleats and take that as a sign of where he might end up in the NFL.

“We know where we’re going. You’ll see them in the cleats later on this week,” said Sanders.

Well, when gameday arrived on Saturday night and the 9-3 Buffaloes squared off with 10-2 BYU, so did the aforementioned cleats. Sanders arrived wearing bright red cleats adorned with streaks of blue and white. And on the heel? The New York Giants logo.

When someone in the cleats video that was released on Saturday suggested that another team could trade up to the No. 1 slot that the Giants would have if the NFL season ended right now, Sanders replied: “You can’t get higher than (No.) 1.”

Sanders is the No. 3 overall prospect on Mel Kiper Jr.’s latest big board for ESPN. He is the top quarterback expected to be available in the 2025 NFL Draft. He’ll have competition from his own team for the No. 1 overall draft pick, though. Travis Hunter, this year’s Heisman winner, is No. 1 on Kiper’s big board.
