You can certainly think that all you want, but the current game has become unwatchable to a rapidly growing number of former fans of the game. And it's getting worse as the current game looks more like a 7 on 7 scrimmage with each passing year. (Pun intended).
Mike, There is this thing they used to play called defense that is (supposedly) still a part of the game and yes, I miss that. And I guess I do recall (with fondness) college football games that could actually be played in under 3 hours. Such a heretic I am...
Um, Ron - you're referring to two coaching moves in times VERY different form the current day to support your point. When Urban Meyer and Nick Saban made the coaching moves they did, the CF environment was VERY different as was the path to a NC. Meyer and Saban knew the odds of being in the consideration for a NC then were highest being in the best college football conference. That ship has since sailed. In the current environment, and especially given the upcoming CFP expansion, it is (and will continue to be) an easier path to the CF playoffs for teams outside the SEC - especially if the CFP committee continues to ignore their own selection procedures (criteria) as they did this year. Make sure you can see the teleprompter clearly, Ron.
Using a measure like wins versus Top 25 teams requires there to be 25 teams ranked - which is a very different thing compared to whether or not there are 25 teams worth being ranked. The use of the Top 25 rankings of a team's opponents to determine the quality of a team's schedule is a weak and unreliable measure (at best). The top 25 should really be no more than a Top 10 (at most) especially this year as team quality significantly fell off past number 10.
Why should Sonny leave TCU now given the cakewalk he would enjoy through that so called conference?
Just what college football needed? Poorly played games in the CFP don't elevate a product that increasing looks more like the NFL (inept defense, constant player/team changes, and the impact of NIL money on the game). This is no longer college football - and may never be as good as it once was ever again.
Let's send the woke to Venus instead since they seem to overly exhibit those tendencies...
What would these idiots done back in the day when Keith and Frank were calling the action? The Big Uglies....the bell cows...today's snowflakes can kiss my arse. I miss Keith and Frank.
Soooo many mistakes by The Wolverines? That is Harbaugh at his usual.
Just more proof the Big 10 (er, 12) was overrated and in no way, shape or form did they deserve two teams in the CFP. The CFP committee did not even follow their own guidelines in selecting the 'best' four teams. Way to blow it again Blue.
Hiring any coach will not be the answer to Auburn's problems until they get their house in order - and that means control of the alumni base. Too many cooks in the kitchen always spells disaster - just as it is with the influence of alumni.
Losing as Tennessee did to South Carolina was not only far worse than either of Alabama's losses, it also happened later in the season. What have you done lately is still a factor in choosing the four teams for the CFP...
