JDunn nailed it. Georgia only had 9 points in quarters 1, 3, and 4 yet the OP said they dominated. Clearly delusional post and JDunn was just calling him out. Anyone with decent vision not from Georgia clearly saw this game and the refs completely screwed over Texas A&M. Not opinion. Observation of fact.
I think South Carolina would have to win out in conference, and Kentucky lose out in conference because record of SEC east teams is one of the last tie breakers. And both would then be 4-4 in conference and Tennessee is a wash. Auburn's east teams this year are Vandy and Georgia. So 3-7 combined now, 3-9 with losses to Auburn to have this tie in the first place so best case 7-9 combined if they win out. Meaning Vandy beats Mizzou, Ole Miss and Tenn. ouch. Tenn has Kentucky and Mizzou at home, Vandy on the road. So I think that would push Bama and A&M's tie breaker over Auburn. Then a coin flip? But only if Kentucky loses two and SCAR beats Florida (won't happen I don't think) Otherwise Bama will have the tie breaker.
Would need a 2 loss Pac champ, and possibly even a 2 loss ACC champ for A&M to get in assuming they and Bama win out. What happens when Clemson loses to FSU, has tie breaker on Louisville, then loses ACC Championship game. Does 1 loss Louisville get in over 2 loss ACC Champ?
most bama fans with eyes agree that was targeting per 9.1.3, either that or they don't know about 9.1.3
I don't see how the play by the TAMU DB was cheap but the one in this story is not. This guy literally tackled him helmet to helmet. At no point did any other part of the Bama player touch the TAMU player other than the helmet collision. The joke is the refs call this targeting purely based on reaction. If speedy stayed down through an injury timeout, then replay would have looked it over and been like oh man, looks like targeting! Speedy popped up and no one on the crew bothers to look.
I don't think the rule as written is asinine, I think the rule as enforced is asinine. If it says "when in doubt call it targeting", then how do they not call it in such clear cases... let alone cases in doubt. Even back to Notre Dame / horns game. This whole season is littered with these.
Which is insanity considering the rule states, when in doubt call it.
