I really hate the trick plays that high school and college teams use sometimes, but this was "almost" brilliant. Anyone can go back and see the replay and I dont know if the play was designed for Fields to actually run or scope for receivers in the open, but Fields literally looks for 1 second and then decides to run. Had he waited 1 more second he would have seen Terry Godwin streaking wide open waving his hand and it would have been a different story. Unfortunately it was one of those "hero or zero" moments and I dont believe this play got practiced enough. Fields had time to wait but tried to run it out instead. I am not saying its his fault. It was a busted play. Sometimes they work and this time it didnt. Saying the play itself cost Georgia the game is crappy. To all of you giving Kirby a hard time...he could do "no wrong" until that play, but now its off with his head in your responses. I am a 44 year plus Dawg fan and I knew this would happen. Smart will get one over on Saban eventually but its not time. UGA was better last year and couldnt get it done and should not hang their heads on this. I think it will happen and I think it will be next season. However, no matter how long Smart worked with Saban, he keeps cards up his sleeve that no one ever saw. That was the difference in this game. It happens with people like Saban, the Tom Brady's, the Aaron Rodgers and Patriots and the lot. You cant get confident when you get out in front and just stop playing. You have to continue and put them down for the count. Again, I dont think Kirby lost Georgia the game. There was alot of letdowns in that last quarter of the game. If it wasnt for this fake punt play, you all would have been blaming Rodrigo for the loss. I hate it as much as anyone. I had tears in my eyes for the Dawgs/fans/coaches but I predict next year UGA will be the national champs.
