Fromm has got to be better. Missing open receivers, taking sacks after having plenty of time to decide to get a few yards and line up for the next down. For as much as he was heralded before the season started, he hasn't lived up to it. As many have said, Coley is getting people open, Jake has to find them and deliver the ball.
Pass defense was good. We played a little soft in the fourth and Webb gave up a lot of passes but nothing concerning. I'm concerned about our inability to hit deep balls unless they are open by a mile.
Can't reply to your post below. I'm asking you what kind of routes were the safeties burned on and if they were playing tight man or not.
I wonder how many of those inside runs are "checks" by Fromm. He has been touted for changing plays at the line of scrimmage.
If Smart wanted a creative run first offense, he would have made darn sure Fields stayed and we got an OC than incorporates spread concepts. Instead he is trying to win using a methodology that Alabama abandoned because it stopped working (see our NC loss).
Burned where? Across the deep middle? On verticals? Burned while they were playing zone?
Teams that play man, with good to great corners are going to challenge both the WRs and Fromm to make plays over the top and dragging across the middle. In both the SC game and the KY game those throws were there on occasion. We win in regulation if Fromm hits Swift coming out the backfield. FL...like SC...like LSU last year will challenge Fromm to beat us with his arm and legs. If he is what he was made out to be his freshman year, he will step up and we will win. If not, I will return to hear the complaints about how there weren't WRs running wide open for Fromm to play pitch and catch with.
