We all depend on the replay officials to get the call CORRECT. They have the slow motion not available to live speed calls by refs. You would be singing a different tune if the runner crosses the line for a touchdown untouched and runs with the ball through the back of the end zone and it's called a touchdown in real time and it's obvious to everyone the guy scored. Then the replay both reverses the call and says "no touchdown". People would go crazy. How the losing team played is irrelevant. It would be an injustice recognized by everyone. If this receiver holds the ball out instead of trying to tuck it and goes to the ground it's a catch. The only reason he didn't keep position in this case is that the DB stripped the fall and caused the fumble.
All the "to many field goals, blew it's chances etc." talk is irrelevant. Instant replay is in the game to get the call right so the best team wins. It matters if the replay official doesn't know what a catch is. Give the touchdown to OSU and the outcome MAY have been different. I guess we'll never know. Show that play to people who watch a lot of football and have played the game and I think they would say that was a catch and fumble.
