I super love you optimistic view. Beers on me whenever/wherever we meet up
Wow. We fired a C+/B- head coach for a this guy. A 1-year head coach. Limited or no track record of recruiting. 36 years old. Whose claim to fame is being OC under Gus. I really like Gus (I would take him as our coach in second), but I am not sure that Gus’s Auburn is the hotbed or new offensive thinking. Mizzou continues to operate as if it is in the minor leagues. You do not fire your coach without a plan. Our AD clearly had no @“!% plan. This hire will it excite the fanbase, recruits or anyone with the exception of Drinkwitz’s financial planner.
It is textbook targeting. Targeting is not just helmet to helmet. Targeting does not solely occur when players initiate helmet-to-helmet contact. It's defined as occurring when a player "takes aim at an opponent for purposes of attacking with forcible contact that goes beyond making a legal tackle or a legal block or playing the ball." Instances include, but are not limited to: Launch--a player leaving his feet to attack an opponent by an upward and forward thrust of the body to make forcible contact in the head or neck area. A crouch followed by an upward and forward thrust to attack with forcible contact at the head or neck area, even though one or both feet are still on the ground. Leading with helmet, shoulder, forearm, fist, hand or elbow to attack with forcible contact at the head or neck area. Lowering the head before attacking by initiating forcible contact with the crown of his helmet.
I think the best non-conference schedule is for Mizzou to play 1) Kansas - longtime rival in Power 5 conference - I hate all of the BS from athletic departments on both sides not scheduling this game - 95%+ of fans love this game - get over yourselves and schedule kansas in every sport. 2) Illinois/Iowa/Minnesota/Northwestern - Border rival in Big Ten (I know MN does not touch Missouri) 3) A non-power 5 conference FBS team (MAC, etc.) allows to move around country 4) Rotation Missouri State / Lower tier ACC or Pac12 team - Mix of local and national exposure - good to support state program (ala Ohio State) This gives good games for the fans to be interested in and a middling schedule strength. Missouri does not need to be scheduling perennial top 15 teams in non-conference schedule.
