A team’s opponents don’t determine the team’s quality. We are great no matter who is on the field across from us. Playing inferior teams doesn’t make you inferior. Y’all to Clemson about that. The ACC is weak too. Doesn’t make Clemson worse for beating up on bad teams. In the same way, UCF is a top 10 team in the country. And we are doing what you would EXPECT a top 10 team to do to inferior opponents.
He said no Power 5 games would be cancelled due to hurricanes. We just beat one of our two Power 5 opponents. Our other is this Saturday in Pittsburgh. No hurricanes are headed towards Pennsylvania right now, so I think the author was right in his statement there.
I’m getting super annoyed at the strength of schedule argument. Like, our competition says nothing about how good we are (unless we lose to one of them). But we are doing exactly what you would expect one of the best teams in the nation to do against our schedule. We can’t control the conference we’re in and to a large extent, we can’t really pick and choose our Out-of-conference schedule. We can only play who is in our conference and then whatever P5 teams agree to play us. But back to my original point- our competition doesn’t determine how good we are. If Bama played our same schedule last year, maybe they also go undefeated (maybe they lose to Auburn in Peach Bowl), maybe they have the top scoring offense in the nation like we did, maybe they have #2 ranked turnover margin in the nation (behind non-P5 Wyoming), maybe all their games are 30+points.... but that wouldn’t make them any less quality of a team because of WHO they beat. Same with us
You guys think that “Power 5” just magically makes a team a tougher team to beat that’s a load of crap. Pitt wasn’t even our toughest game so far, let alone our toughest game of the whole schedule. USF is tougher, so too will Cincy be this year.
