Anthony Richardson experienced a new development on Saturday night, and it had as much to do with his game-winning drive as the new coaching staff.

After the game, Richardson revealed what coach Billy Napier told him in the huddle before going out and scoring the game-winning touchdown. Overall, Richardson ran for 3 scores in his second career start, including a 2-yard scamper with 1:25 remaining, as the Gators knocked off No. 7 Utah 29-26 to give the Billy Napier era a memorable start.

“It was different,” Richardson said. “Coach told me ‘We’re going to try and score right here for a game-winner.’ My heart kind of froze, because I hadn’t really heard those words before, especially in a situation like that, with a crowd as big as that, so I was thinking a lot. But having the ball in my hand, I feel like the team trusts me, coaches trust me to make a play, to make something happen … glad they trust me for that.”
