Arik Gilbert says he has made his 2021 decision.

After a year at LSU, Gilbert announced Sunday that he has committed to Florida. A 5-star recruit in the class of 2020, Gilbert entered the NCAA transfer portal last month. The standout tight end was reportedly also considering Georgia as well as withdrawing from the portal and returning to LSU.

As a freshman, Gilbert appeared in eight games for LSU, recording 35 catches for 368 yards and 2 touchdowns. If granted eligibility for 2021, he figures to step in for Florida at tight end after the departure of Mackey Award-winner Kyle Pitts, who reportedly helped Gator assistant Tim Brewster recruit Gilbert.

With UF well into the Spring semester and past the drop/add deadline, Gilbert is looking at joining the program during the Summer (A or B) semesters.

Out of Marrietta (Georgia), Gilbert was rated the No. 5 overall recruit in the class of 2020 on the 247Sports Composite. His Composite score of 0.9972 places him No. 113 among all recruits this century.

Since the transfer portal was introduced in 2018, Florida has managed to land former 5-star recruits Demarkcus Bowman, Brenton Cox, Lorenzo Lingard and Justin Shorter. Bowman arrived on campus in January along with the other class of 2021 early enrollees.
