The rivalry between Florida and Georgia is one of the most exciting games of the college football season.

Played in Jacksonville, the matchup is one of the few regular-season, neutral-site meetings left in college football, and it always produces a fun environment.

Relative to some big rivalries in college football, the series has been pretty even all time with Georgia leading 55-44-2 since the 2 teams started meeting in the early 20th century.

In recent years, Georgia has dominated the rivalry, winning 5 of the last 6 meetings. The Bulldogs have won the last 2 meetings with Florida taking the 2020 game.

Ahead of the matchup, Billy Napier spoke about what the rivalry means to the 2 programs.

“If you’re the head coach at the University of Florida, there’s a lot of games that are important,” Napier said during the SEC coaches teleconference Wednesday. “Certainly some more than others to people that have history here. I think ultimately this game, there’s a long list at Florida right, we have history with a lot of teams. But this one with the states bordering each other obviously the history and tradition behind the game, our fan bases have to live with each other to some degree, certain parts of each state. It’s what makes college football fun.”

While Georgia has been the better team this season, Florida has gained some momentum recently, winning its last 2 games. Coming off the bye week, the Gators are looking for a huge upset in this one.
