Billy Napier complimented the Florida players on Tuesday after he said that the biggest thing the Gators are working on is simply changing their mindset in how they work, but that the players have embraced everything.

“The people within the organization have done a really good job of establishing trust, I think there’s been good communication. I think we’ve explained why we do what we do, and how we do it. And overall we’ve hired really good people, people that are experts in what they do.”

He said it’s one thing to be physical, and another to be fundamentally sound.

“You’ve got to do the very simple things really well,” Napier said. “… The basics, do the simple things really well. I think that’s how we’ve played really good football in the past. We’ve got a ways to go with this team to get there.”

Napier said LB Ventrell Miller (torn biceps) has been medically cleared.

As for the quarterbacks, Napier said they take a step forward every day, and though there were some mental errors on Tuesday, overall they’re doing well.

“It is sticking and they’re retaining information and I see improvements,” he said.

He added that things aren’t too big for Ohio State QB transfer Jack Miller because he’s been in games and competition before. “He’s able to make a play, and be the same guy the next play,” Napier said. “He can make a mistake and be the same guy the next play.”

Napier said he was very impressed with RB Nay’Quan Wright.

“He has a big-picture perspective, he can see things from a coach’s perspective,” Napier said. “I think he’s intelligent, I think he’s tough. He’s been through some things. I think he’s resilient, he has some leadership qualities, and we need the guy. We not only need the guy as a running back. … I would say in my short time, Nay’Quan is one of the players I have the most respect for just because of his approach and overall attitude.”
