Billy Napier still excited about Anthony Richardson after tough outing against Kentucky
Florida lost a tough home game to Kentucky on Saturday night, 26-16.
And it was not the best of outings for sophomore quarterback Anthony Richardson.
The 6-4, 232-pounder had jumped into the Heisman conversation according to many after a stellar game in a win over then-No. 7 Utah a week earlier.
But against the Wildcats, Richardson was just 14-of-35 through the air for 143 yards and 2 interceptions. The dynamic runner was also held to just 4 rushing yards on 6 carries.
It wasn’t pretty, but on Monday during his weekly media availability, Gators coach Billy Napier had plenty of good things to say about his quarterback and the way he handled the defeat.
“This (guy’s) a competitor,” Napier said. “He’s motivated. He’s gonna take full advantage of the experience he’s had, both good and bad.”

The Gators, who are ranked No. 18 in this week’s AP Top 25, will look to get back into the win column on Saturday night at home against South Florida.
