Most of the college football world was quite impressed with what Georgia was able to accomplish in Kirby Smart’s second season in Athens. Apparently, Dan Mullen isn’t among them.

Despite Mullen’s Mississippi State team losing to Smart’s Georgia team in Athens last season by a margin of 31-3, the first-year Florida coach isn’t shying away from the success of his East rival. After winning the league title and securing the nation’s No. 1 recruiting class, the Dawgs are clearly on a roll.

Mullen, however, sees it a bit differently.

During Florida’s Gainesville National Signing Day celebration event, Mullen offered up his opinion of the Georgia program, per Thomas Goldkamp of 247Sports:

Shots officially fired.

There’s a new sheriff in town, and he’s not about to back down to the Bulldogs, that’s pretty clear. Given the recent history between the two schools, Mullen isn’t that far off in his assessment when it comes to the annual rivalry between the two. The Gators have dominated the series since 1990 and the way Mullen tells it, that’s not going to change anytime soon.
