Dan Mullen does not see the final 2 games of the season as him coaching for his job, despite outside opinions of the state of the Florida program.

The Gators travel to Missouri this week, and then finish the regular season against Florida State.

Mullen was asked if he feels like he’s coaching for his job, and he noted in his 13 years as an SEC head coach that there is always pressure, and he coaches like that for 365 days each year.

“You’re always expected to perform in this league,” Mullen said. “This week is no different than last week or the week before, or 5 years ago, or 10 years ago.”

Mullen was reminded that Florida was ranked No. 6 in the College Football Playoff rankings at this point last year, and he was asked what’s happened to the program. Mullen said each year is unique with unique circumstances.

“We played a very different schedule this year with a very different team, and under very different circumstances,” Mullen said. “It’s not like, ‘Oh, this happened.’ This year hasn’t gone the way that we’ve wanted it to go, unfortunately, and you can point to a lot of different things why that happened and different reasons with where we’re at, but that’s this year’s team. I can’t compare one year to the next because each team is so independent.”

Mullen was later asked about dancing in the locker room after the Samford win, and the optics from that given the Gators were down by double digits in the game.

“I’ve never won a game that was not worth celebrating,” Mullen said. “If we win the game 3-2 this week, we’ll be dancing in that locker room. If we win 70-2, we’ll be celebrating.”
