Florida coach Dan Mullen was the subject of an interesting rumor this week, when it was revealed that NFL Draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah told Bruce Feldman that he thinks Mullen could be the next head coach of the Dallas Cowboys.

Mullen has never worked in the NFL before, so it was an interesting report.

At his Orange Bowl press conference, Mullen was asked about the rumors and gave a rather candid response:

“I’ve never been in the NFL,” he said. “So, it’s not even something I’ve thought or considered. I’ve never even been an assistant coach in the NFL. … If someone ever calls me, I would probably consider it then, but it’s not even something I’ve considered at this point.”

That’s not exactly a full shutdown of NFL rumors, which is interesting. Will Mullen ever get a call from the NFL? And, what will he decide if that moment comes? We’ll have to wait to find out.
